Chapter Six
Beyond "Welfare Reform"
Welfare Reform. Two words that often provoke an emotional response from both liberal social service advocates and conservative taxpayer groups. On many modern political issues voters often cannot see a clear difference between the policies and proposals of Republicans versus Democrats; however, on the issue of welfare entitlement benefits, my GOP is the clear choice for those among us who are most concerned about the role of government in our daily lives and the increasing costs of such social engineering programming efforts.
The issue of welfare benefits is the perfect example to demonstrate the fundamental differences between the goals of the two major political parties in America. While often times the media will paint Republicans as opposing welfare benefits in general, those who bother to take the time to study the specifics know full well that Republicans do not oppose welfare programs. But we do have a drastically different view of their purpose and duration than those on the left side of the political aisle.
