Chapter Thirteen
Inner Circle acknowledgments
Since the beginning of my political career, I am blessed to have been surrounded with a group of people who have not only served me well as political advisors, but more importantly, I consider all to be trusted friends. This group of loyal souls has earned the title of my “ Inner Circle.” Some folks call such groups their “Kitchen Cabinet” which is a term first used by the political opponents of President Andrew Jackson. This term describe the unofficial advisors Jackson consulted and who entered the White House via the side kitchen door. I use the term “ Inner Circle,” as I seek and obtain advice from a great number of people, but there is an Inner Circle of them whom I rely upon the most for their straightforward, candid and honest guidance.
