Chapter Twelve
We have a proud history
Without a doubt the old saying: “Those who ignore history are bound to repeat it” is as true in political history just as much as any review of American history in general. In fact, it is surprising how often modern political leaders and candidates repeat the same old mistakes their predecessors made and then experience the same negative consequences. There is certainly much to be learned from those who have gone before.
After reading this chapter and perhaps the entire book (if they can stomach it), I expect my liberal critics to suggest that I am telling only half of the story, leaving out the accounts of the great leaders and successes of their Democrat Party. To this, I plead guilty! This chapter and book are not a non-biased, bi-partisan treatise of American history nor is it intended to be a fair and balanced discussion on political history overall. My goals are clear, I am only telling half the story on purpose.
